Introduction
VERY IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE INSTALLATION!
Apply grease to the bearings of the linkage before inserting the sleeves
into your Elka linkage. Keep the bearings properly greased to prevent
premature wear of the linkage and bearings.
-
-
Remove the stock linkage from the vehicle. (See your Yamaha Service Manual for detailed instructions).
-
Remove the sleeves from your stock linkage. Generously grease the bearings in the Elka linkage. Install those sleeves in your new Elka linkage as shown on the left diagram.
-
If the sleeves are worn, they will need to be replaced prior to installation in the Elka linkage.
-
-
-
Install the Elka Linkage. The 28mm wide hole must face towards the front of the quad and attaches to the shock's mounting fork. The 32mm wide hole must face towards the rear of the quad and attaches to the swingarm. The larger hole attaches to the other linkage at the bottom.
-
Be sure to tighten correctly according to the torque table found in your Yamaha Service Manual.
-
Re-install your shock absorber. You might have to shim some aftermarket skid plates 1/4 inch (0.25”) or more for clearance.
-
Follow the same maintenance procedures as for your stock linkage shown in your Yamaha Service and Owner’s manuals. Check once a season for bearing wear in the Elka linkage.
